Support a Statewide Recycling Program for Beverage Bottles and Cans (TX)
Goal: establish a statewide beverage container deposit / refund program to keep littered cans and bottles off our beaches and out of our neighborhoods and parks.
According to Texans for Clean Water, 50,545,695 glass, aluminum and plastic beverage containers are wasted every day in our state. Unfortunately, many of them end up on our beaches and in our neighborhoods and parks, where they degrade and contribute to microplastic pollution. Urge your State Legislators to support House Bill 2048 and Senate Bill 725 to establish a statewide deposit / refund program for glass, aluminum and plastic drink containers! If they become law, a non-profit organization would be created, without using any state funds, to facilitate a deposit / refund redemption program similar to the successful container recycling programs in other states.
